Bought a vanity address or generated one yourself? You now have a 64-character private key. Importing it into a wallet takes a minute. Below are the typical steps — exact button names can differ slightly between app versions.

Before you start

  • Keep the key offline: write it down or store it in a password manager. Never paste it into chats, forms or websites.
  • Install wallets only from official app stores or the wallet's official website.
  • Have your new address at hand to double-check that the wallet shows the same one after import.
  1. Open TronLink and choose Import wallet (or tap the wallet switcher → Add wallet → Import).
  2. Select Private key as the import method.
  3. Paste the 64-character key and set a wallet name and password.
  4. Confirm. Compare the address shown in TronLink with your vanity address — all 34 characters.
  1. Click the TronLink icon and open the account menu.
  2. Choose Import account → Private key.
  3. Paste the key, set a name, and confirm with your extension password.
  4. Verify the full address.

Trust Wallet, TokenPocket and other wallets

Most multi-chain wallets follow the same pattern:

  1. Add / Import wallet → choose the TRON network.
  2. Select Private key and paste it.
  3. Name the wallet and confirm, then verify the full address.

If a wallet only offers seed-phrase import, it cannot import a raw TRON private key — pick a wallet that supports private keys.

Activate the address

A brand-new TRON address exists mathematically but becomes active on-chain only when it first receives TRX or a token. Activation consumes a small amount of TRX, which is normally paid by the first transfer. The simplest way: send a little TRX to the address from an exchange or another wallet.

Receiving and sending USDT (TRC20)

  • Receiving USDT costs you nothing: share the address and the sender pays the fees.
  • Sending USDT requires energy and bandwidth. If you do not have staked TRX, the network burns TRX from your balance to pay for them, so keep some TRX on the address.

Optional: lock the account to your own wallet

If you bought the address and plan to keep large balances, you can move the account's owner permission to a key you already control. After that the original private key can no longer move funds. Details in is a vanity address safe?

FAQ

My wallet shows a different address after import. Why?

The key was mistyped or imported on the wrong network. Delete the imported account, check that you selected TRON and paste the key again. Never send funds until the address matches exactly.

Can I import the same private key into several wallets?

Yes. The key controls the account, so any wallet with that key can access it — which is also why you must never share it.

Do I need a seed phrase?

No. A raw private key is enough for TRON. Seed phrases are a different backup format that derives many keys; a single vanity key does not come with one.

Why can't I send USDT even though I have USDT?

You probably have no TRX for energy and bandwidth. Deposit some TRX to the same address and try again.
